This stylized cowboy, like the old Hollywood posters of the 50's, is twirling his lariat low around his hips. Look for other Old Time Cowboys quilting patterns to combine with this. Only "OK" as e2e, for pantograph work, I'd rather use the pattern where he is in a "setting".
